The primary goal of this class is to help music lovers learn something about technology and computing/gaming lovers to learn something about music. We hope to see our students develop a strong interest in Computational Thinking and learn how to apply the skills to music making, electronically. By the end of the class, students will produce a compilation of Electronic Music they will share with friends, family and fellow classmates during a recital.
What do all these movies have in common? They were all forms of electronic music produced for major movie productions and similar skills students of this class will acquire. Aside from producing amazing musical beats, the primary goal of this class is to help
Objectives: By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Listen to music critically and understand a song’s elements and structure 2. Understand the concepts of making music on a computer 3. Create and program an original track from scratch on a computer 4. Perform / remix that original track live
Goal: Have fun making music
Tool: Ableton Live 9 Intro
Prerequisites: An interest in music technology. While useful, students do not need to know how to read or play music.
