Knowledge Points are used for issuing awards, ranks, badges, rewarding for loyalty and just fun Gamification.
Knowledge Points, or KP’s, are earned and spent within the Computational Thinkers Learning Management System. Each user on our site gets their own KP point balance. KP’s are earned by either gaining knowledge through attending classes with us or through various hidden actions within our website, like leaving comments, logging in each day, creating an account, registering for a class, etc. KP’s can be applied toward a purchase of a class or spent in our Merch store. We use KP’s to showcase your educational efforts on our community leaderboard. KP’s can even be purchased through online banking, to top off a purchase. These are just a few examples of the ways KP are used here at Computational Thinkers.
Each time we add or deduct points from a user (yes, negative netiquette results in losing points) , the adjustment is entered into a dedicated log, allowing you to browse your KP action history. The log is also used to provide you with statistics, accountability, badges, ranks and to enforce limits.
